Organic & Wildcrafted herbs

GROWN & harvested BY PEOPLE WE TRUST

Organically grown & Wildcrafted

by people we trust

Our herbs are organically grown or wildcrafted, and they come from a small set of growers and suppliers we have chosen deliberately and kept close. Small is the point. A short supply chain means we know where a plant grew, how it was harvested, and how it was handled before it reached us. We buy from suppliers who test their botanicals, including for heavy metals, and we keep those records. When a source cannot meet that standard, we change the source, not the standard.

gathered

in season

Plants are not interchangeable across the calendar. Roots are dug in fall when the plant has drawn its strength downward. Flowers are gathered at the moment they open. Leaves are taken when the oils are at their peak. We source and craft with the seasons rather than against them, which is why a formula occasionally rests out of stock until the right harvest comes around again. We consider that patience part of the medicine.

made slowly

in small batches

In our Los Angeles apothecary, tinctures macerate for weeks, not days, steeping until the plants have given what they hold. Teas are blended by hand in small batches sized to what hands can do well. Every bottle is poured, labeled, and lot-numbered by a person, and every order is checked by a person before it ships. Founder and herbalist Jasmine Simone develops and tests each formula; our small team crafts every batch with the same methods and the same care, batch after batch.

What the words mean

Sourcing language gets used loosely in this industry. Here is what it means when we say it.

Organically grown

Cultivated without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, by growers whose practices we know and have chosen.

Wildcrafted

Gathered from the plant's own habitat, in season, with restraint: taking only what the stand can spare so it thrives the following year.

Small batch

Batches sized to be made well by hand, measured in dozens of bottles, not thousands. Every batch carries a lot number we can trace back to its plants.

Maceration

The slow steeping of plant material that gives a tincture its depth. Ours run on the plant's timeline, never a production schedule.

If you ever want to know about a specific plant in a specific formula, write to us at care@wildwomanherbs.com. We can tell you where it came from, and we consider it a good sign that you asked.
