*USDA Certified Organic Ingredient

Handcrafted in small batches and crafted with USDA certified ingredients, this blend contains only the highest quality ingredients.

Preparation: For a strong infusion, steep 5 tablespoons of herbal mixture in 1 quart of water for 2-4 hours or overnight. Strain and add to the bathtub or sitz bath basin. Add 1-2 quarts of warm water if desired. After steeping, strain the herbs and save them if you wish to reuse them for a second infusion.

Alternatively, for immediate use, place the herbs in a cotton tea net or muslin bag and hang over the faucet or place directly in the tub as it fills with warm water.

Soak: Whether using a sitz bath basin or a full bathtub, soak for 15-20 minutes. Ensure that the perineal area is well submerged to help increase blood flow to the area, which can reduce pain and swelling. Repeat up to 2-4 times daily for 7 to 10 days for optimal postpartum recovery.

Clean your tub before using it each and every time! It may seem like an unnecessary step, but it’s essential to prevent infection. Your wounds are still healing.

Peri Bottle: Use some of the leftover or additional brewed herbal infusion to fill a Peri Bottle. This can be used for a gentle rinse after using the bathroom, providing soothing relief and maintaining cleanliness without irritation.

Post-Bath Care: Use leftover brewed infusion in a Peri Bottle for a gentle post-toilet rinse. Pour pre-brewed mix onto sanitary pads and freeze for soothing ice packs. Dilute and use for gentle newborn cord stump care.

Additional options: Add 1 to 2 cups Epsom salt and 1/2 to 3/4 cup baking soda per gallon of water if desired. Rinse off the salts in fresh water.

Note: Always clean the tub (or ask someone to do it for you) thoroughly before use to prevent infection and maintain hygiene. Taking time for sitz baths can significantly enhance your healing and mood during the postpartum period.

  • Calendula: Calendula is renowned for its vulnerary action, with several studies supporting its effectiveness in wound healing. A review by Givol et al. (2019) concluded that calendula’s traditional use as a vulnerary agent is well-supported by clinical evidence, warranting further studies. In a clinical study on diaper rash, Panahi et al. (2012) found that calendula significantly improved rash severity due to its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Additionally, Stubbe & Valero (2013) reviewed clinical trials indicating that calendula effectively prevents skin toxicity and irritation during radiation therapy.
  • Comfrey: Comfrey is notable for its high allantoin content, which stimulates tissue repair. In a randomized controlled trial involving children with fresh abrasions, Barna et al. (2012) found that wounds treated with a 10% comfrey concentration healed significantly faster than those treated with a 1% concentration. Furthermore, Grube et al. (2007) demonstrated that comfrey extract gel significantly reduced osteoarthritis knee pain, enhancing mobility and quality of life.
  • Yarrow: Yarrow has been used for its astringent and anti-inflammatory properties. According to Wood (2007), yarrow can regulate blood flow, decongest blood associated with inflammation, and tone the veins. It is effective for hemorrhoids and perineal soreness, providing significant relief from postpartum discomforts.
  • Plantain: Studies have validated plantain’s historical reputation for wound healing and anti-inflammatory action. Zubair et al. (2015) and Kováč et al. (2015) demonstrated that plantain-treated wounds showed faster healing and greater wound tensile strength. These studies highlight plantain’s ability to enhance collagen growth and reduce inflammation, making it beneficial for skin conditions and wound care.
  • Rose: Rose has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Hoseinpour et al. (2011) conducted a randomized double-blind study that found rose mouthwash more effective than a placebo for treating recurrent mouth lesions. Kalim et al. (2010) identified significant antioxidant effects of Rosa damascena, supporting its role in preventing oxidative DNA damage.
  • Chamomile: Chamomile’s anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties are well-documented. A study by Charousaei et al. (2011) found that chamomile compresses were more effective than hydrocortisone for treating peristomal skin lesions. Glowania et al. (1987) showed that chamomile extract decreased wound weeping and aided the healing process of tattoo dermabrasion injuries.
  • Lavender: Lavender is celebrated for its antiseptic and soothing qualities. Mori et al. (2016) highlighted lavender essential oil’s ability to promote wound repair and speed healthy tissue recovery. Additionally, its antimicrobial properties make it effective for disinfecting cuts and soothing skin irritations.
